Introducing Greater Firelands Soccer Association

The name "Greater Firelands Soccer Association" carries deep meaning, rooted in the history of the Firelands region of Ohio, a land with a past marked by resilience and rebirth. The Firelands were originally established as a region of restitution for settlers whose homes in Connecticut were destroyed by British forces during the Revolutionary War. These settlers, displaced by devastating fires, rebuilt their lives on new land, determined to rise from the ashes and create a lasting legacy of their own.

Just as the original settlers of the Firelands had to overcome adversity into opportunity, our soccer association is undergoing its own process of rebirth. The Greater Firelands Soccer Association reflects this spirit of resilience and renewal. We are committed to developing soccer players of all levels, building a stronger community, and fostering a love for the game that will thrive for generations to come.

As the Greater Firelands Soccer Association, we are proud to be a part of the ongoing story of this region—a story that continues to be written by every player, coach, and supporter. We are here to rise, just as those before us did, and to build something that will endure for years to come—a foundation for future champions, both on and off the field.

Our Mission

To provide soccer programming opportunities in North Central Ohio, fostering a love for the game while promoting inclusivity and accessibility for players of all skill levels. Our programs aim to enrich lives, strengthen community ties, and inspire growth through soccer.

Our Vision

GFFA will deliver comprehensive soccer programming that attracts new members and players to the game while fostering deeper engagement among existing members and players with the game and our organization. Through innovative initiatives, strategic partnerships, and a commitment to excellence, we aim to build a sustainable soccer culture in the region.

We Believe in:

Inspiring Growth:

Soccer is more than a sport—it’s an opportunity to develop skills, build confidence, and embrace challenges. We prioritize individual and team growth over results, focusing on the journey, not just the scoreboard.

Community and Inclusion:

Our club is a family where every player, coach, and parent is valued. We ensure all participants feel welcome and supported, regardless of background or ability.

Respect and Sportsmanship:

We play with integrity and respect for teammates, opponents, referees, and the game itself. Winning with humility and losing with grace are integral to who we are.

Leadership through Example:

Coaches and mentors model the values of discipline, positivity, and accountability. Our players learn to lead both on and off the field, becoming role models in their schools and communities.

Fun and Passion:

Soccer should be enjoyable! We cultivate a passion for the sport through engaging practices, competitive play, and opportunities for players to express their creativity and joy.
